Day 7 Tuesday July 3, 2007 Total Mileage 397 Miles

Day Seven of the trip started out with breakfast, and checking out the area. We got the bikes out and went for a ride around the part of the canyon where we camped. We checked out different scenery and walked around some of the cabins that they rent out for camping. They look like little log cabins but I guess they are very nice inside with air conditioning and heat, bed linens and towels provided and I think sleep 4. After riding around, cleaned up the rv, did showers and got ready to leave.

We watched dad running around trying to get away from the huge flying biting flies that were chasing him. Those flies hunted him down and wouldn't give up. When we drove away from the campsite to find the dump station they were hanging on the outside of the rv holding on. I told their victim that they must know he has to go to the dump station and when we stop and he gets out, their going to get him again. And they attacked as soon as he got out to dump the tanks. After that we finally noticed they were gone, we drove a different part of the canyon, the Park Ranger when we checked in said, to go this route and see other parts of the canyon. There were some hairpin turns with no guardrails up and down hills, good thing the scenery was pretty, the drive was interesting.

On the way out, we hit the gift shop and the "Victim" bought a nice fridge magnet, that said send more tourists the last ones were very good, and it has those evil flies on it. We left the canyon and headed towards New Mexico and crossed the sate line at 2:19. We didn't really notice any rest areas in New Mexico opened for most of the way, we finally found one, but everything was pretty much locked up. We got to Grants KOA in New Mexico at 8:05, the kids went to the playground with dad, and mom made spaghetti. Then it cooled off nicely and everybody was pretty tired.
