A 1943 WWII Nazi Germany German Kuban Battle Shield. The battle Shield came about in Sept 1943 and was issued for the campaign which was in the Crimean Area around February 1943. The award came attached to a cloth material to be sewn to the sleeve of the soldiers uniform and had a paper backing on the shield itself, this particular badge has the cloth backing but no paper attached to the shield itself. The shield was given when certain criteria were met, such as Continuous military service for two months, the soldier was part of one major battle in the campaign or he was wounded while in service in the area of the campaign. This particular Kuban shield has on the front 1943 the eagle and Nazi Swastika, the word Kuban and then Lagunen and Krymskaja. The badge has the green felt type material, no paper backing, the four clasps holding the badge to the cloth are there and solid with no rust. The back of the badge does have alittle surface rust, the front is very clean and has no major scratches and no dents, its in nice shape.
